Amorim Breaks Down In-Game Changes
Ruben Amorim has explained why he made substitutions in Manchester United's Europa League triumph against Bodo/Glimt.
The rush of switches, four of which occurred before the hour mark, may have led some to believe that Amorim was dissatisfied with what he was witnessing, but the head coach had a different perspective.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, he said: "I believe we made roughly four replacements based on the players' fitness rather than what was ideal for the game.
"We're in that moment. We need the entire squad to be fit, and you must be willing to take some chances.
Given the severity of recent injuries, the fact that the new United manager has a significant focus on the squad's condition will put many Reds at ease.
Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, who have spent extensive time in the treatment room, appear to be being eased back into the senior squad to avoid repeated concerns, with the pair playing 45 and 30 minutes, respectively, against the Norwegians.
Amorim understands that his approach places significant expectations on his players, but he wants them to adapt.
"We improve the ball's quality. We had more opportunities [than the Ipswich game]. "We were more dangerous, but we will have to change the players," the manager conceded to TNT. "You can feel it." We try to press constantly.
"I think the last 10 minutes were difficult, and it was different for the guys. Rasmus seems to have died. I noticed that some of the players were quite weary. Antony returned from injury. "He had to leave the game."

It appears like Amorim will adopt a longer-term approach to his selections, focusing on what is best for the squad over the course of several weeks rather than what is required for any given game.
He made six changes to the starting lineup for Bodo/Glimt's visit, and another five during the game; Amorim will not be afraid to act in the best interests of his new team, even if it means taking tactical risks.
