Basketball World Shocked as LaVar Ball Undergoes Amputation Due to 'Serious Medical Issue'
LaVar Ball had his right foot amputated due to a "serious medical issue," TMZ Sports reported on Wednesday.

The Big Baller Brand co-founder, father of Hornets star LaMelo Ball, Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, and former NBA player LiAngelo Ball, just underwent surgery to have his right foot removed and is believed to be in good spirits, according to the story.

No other information was revealed on Wednesday.

Ball, 57, and his sons have yet to speak publicly about the matter.

The Ball family patriarch has gained notoriety for being outspoken while supporting his sons' basketball accomplishments.

The Lakers selected Lonzo as second overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, while the Hornets selected LaMelo as third overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Ball and the Bulls agreed to a two-year, $20 million contract extension in February after he had a knee injury in 2022 that required several procedures and sidelined him for more than 1,000 days.

LaMelo won NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021 and was chosen to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

He made his NBA All-Star debut in 2022.

LaMelo, who is averaging 27.3 points this season, has been suffering from an ankle issue.

LiAngelo last played for the Mexican team Astros de Jalisco and has since started a rap career.
