India vs Bangladesh: Champions Trophy 2025 Highlights: BAN dropped to 35/5 at one point. Axar Patel almost scored a hat-trick. Towhid Hridoy achieved a century. Shubman Gill got a century for IND during the chase.
India vs Bangladesh Highlights: Shubman Gill demonstrated why he is the world's best one-day international batter. He struck a fighting century off 125 balls to lead India's pursuit of 229 runs against Bangladesh in their Champions Trophy opener. India beat Bangladesh by six wickets. After India lost their top order hitters, KL Rahul joined Shubman out in the middle and steadied the innings, allowing the Men in Blue to reach the mark with 21 balls remaining. India had lost Virat Kohli (who needed 38 balls to get 22), Rohit Sharma (41 from 36 balls), Shreyas Iyer (15), and Axar Patel (8).
In India's first innings, Mohammad Shami took five wickets. Meanwhile, Towhid Hridoy earned his first century despite having cramps that required him to be treated at least twice throughout the game. Hridoy joined Jaker Ali for a 154-run partnership to save Bangladesh from disaster. Bangladesh had dropped to 35/5 at one point, but Towhid and Jaker led them to 189 before Jaker left for 68. By then, they had set the Champions Trophy record for the most significant sixth-wicket partnership. This is also the highest sixth-wicket partnership by any side against India in ODI history.
After being dropped in the slips on his first ball, Hridoy took advantage of his second chance. In reality, Rohit Sharma's error in the slips robbed Axar Patel of a hat trick. The spinner had already secured the wickets of Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim with successive deliveries before inducing another edge from Hridoy. Bangladesh were down three wickets with only 26 runs on the board in their Champions Trophy match against India. Mohammed Shami collected the wickets of Soumya Sarkar and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, while Harshit Rana took the wicket of captain Najmul Shanto. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Bangladesh had the worst possible start to their innings, losing their first wicket with one run on the board in the first over and then losing their second wicket in the second over with only two runs on the board.
