Mark Taylor Pays Tribute to Late Friend Shane Warne at Big Freeze at the 'G
Former Australian cricket captain Mark Taylor paid tribute to the late Shane Warne by wearing his trademark wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen combo as part of the Big Freeze at the 'G.

Taylor ran down the slide into the freezing water, sunscreen on his nose and lips, ahead of Melbourne's King's Birthday AFL game against Collingwood.

Taylor was the tenth and last slider, saying that here is where Warne should have batted.

"He lit this ground on fire several times.  Taylor told Channel Seven, "It's great to be here and support a great cause while also honouring my late, great friend Shane Warne."

Olympic swimmer Arianne Titmus, Collingwood great Peter Daicos, filmmaker Matt Nable, former Olympic sprinter Matt Shirvington, netballer Liz Watson, Australian cricket captain Alyssa Healy, former Dees star Aaron Davey, Tour de France winner Cadel Evans, and Supercars champion Craig Lowndes were among the other participants.

"It's nice to be able to help out in some small way," Taylor told 2GB on Monday morning.

"I have known the Danihers for a time.  We come from a comparable part of the planet.

"I feel a bit of a connection there."

The 11th annual Big Freeze at the 'G was a special one, with Melbourne and Collingwood players forming a guard of honour for the man himself, Neale Daniher.

The cause's goal is to raise funds for research and to support individuals suffering from motor neurone disease (MND).
