'Normalize Indian Hate': Musk’s DOGE Employee Marko Elez Resigns After Old ‘Racist’ Posts Resurface Online
A staff member at Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency resigned on Thursday when his old, now-deleted 'racist' statements on Indians emerged.

According to National Public Radio, 25-year-old software engineer Marko Elez was part of Musk's DOGE and was given access to the Treasury Department's system to decrease expenses and detect fraud.

Elez had previously worked with Musk at X and SpaceX, and he was one of two temporary DOGE appointees at the US Treasury who were granted access to a highly sensitive Treasury system that handles trillions of dollars in payments each year.

The Wall Street Journal stated that Elez had made multiple racist posts on X in 2024.

In July 2024, Elez stated, "Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool."

A September 2024 post stated, "You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.

" Another post that month stated, "Normalize Indian hate."

In December, while campaigning to repeal the Civil Rights Act, he stated, "I just want a eugenic immigration policy. Is that too much to ask?"

NPR stated that all of these posts have since been deleted.

This issue arose amid concerns among US politicians about Elon's expanding influence and the people he has hired to reduce, and sometimes dissolve, entire government organizations to cut expenses.

Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee called for a probe into Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, citing potential national security dangers.

In a Thursday letter, the members of Congress encouraged deputy inspectors general at numerous federal agencies to look into any national security breaches involving Musk's team.

These agencies are the US Treasury, the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Education, the US Agency for International Development, the General Services Administration, and the Small Business Administration.

"We are deeply concerned that unauthorized system access could be occurring across the federal government and pose a major threat to the personal privacy of all Americans and our nation's national security," according to the congressmen.

Their statement continued: "Although Elon Musk appears to have been granted the status of 'Special Government Employee', there is no evidence that he, or any of his associates working under the 'DOGE team' moniker are entitled to access our government systems, nor is there any evidence that they have undergone the proper vetting to ensure the security of taxpayer and government data."
