Denis Coderre's Bid Rejected

The PLQ announced its verdict on the X network early Friday.

"The Electoral Committee informed Mr. Coderre that his candidacy declaration was invalid. According to the Terms and Conditions for the 2025 PLQ Leadership Race, Mr. Coderre may appeal this decision to the Arbitration Committee if he does so in writing within five (5) days of receiving the judgment. "The Electoral Committee will not make any further comments," X says.

The person in question also responded on social media in a brief post. "I learned about the PLQ electoral committee's decision, which was made slowly. I will not remark on the subject today. "I will do so at the appropriate time," he posted on Facebook. Mr. Coderre did not say whether he would contest the rejection of his candidacy.

Last week, La Presse revealed that former mayor Denis Coderre had yet to submit all his tax records to the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) authorities, who must assess whether his leadership campaign is genuine.

However, as of last Friday, despite this deadline, the PLQ said that Denis Coderre had yet to get this authorization, allowing him to obtain the list of Liberal members and begin collecting the 750 signatures required to make his candidacy official.
