Jean Perrin Cheese Recalled Due to E. coli: CFIA Warning.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled two types of Jean Perrin brand cheeses owing to potential pathogenic E. coli contamination.

According to the agency, the recall applies to Jean Perrin brand Morbey de Scey and Raclette de Scey cheeses with expiration dates of June 3 and October 3 in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec, and perhaps additional provinces and territories.

The agency also warns that shops may have sold some cheeses in smaller quantities with or without labels and with varied expiration dates.

The recall states that the recalled items should not be consumed, used, served, or distributed and that consumers should either discard the cheeses or contact the shop where they were purchased.

Food infected with pathogenic E. coli may not appear or smell rotten. However, it can still make someone sick, resulting in nausea, vomiting, mild to severe abdominal cramps, and watery to bloody diarrhea.

According to the FDA, in severe cases of the disease, some patients may experience seizures or strokes, require blood transfusions and renal dialysis, live with lifelong kidney impairment, or die from the condition.
