Dire Wolf Howls for the First Time in 10,000 Years After Being Brought Back from Extinction

The cry of a dire wolf has not been heard in over 10,000 years. Scientists now claim to have brought the animal back from extinction.
According to Time Magazine, Colossal Biosciences, an American corporation, used genetic engineering and conserved DNA to 'de-extinct' the dire wolf.
Colossal Biosciences reported that the ancient DNA was discovered in fossils ranging back 11,500 to 72,000 years.
They then modified the ordinary gray wolf's genetic coding to match the dire wolf genome, and domestic canines served as surrogate moms.
The three wolves are named Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi, alluding to the animal's role in the popular television show Game of Thrones.
In a post on X, Colossal Biosciences stated that Romulus and Remus, born on October 1, 2024, were the world's first de-extinct mammals.
"This moment marks not only a milestone for us as a company but also a leap forward for science, conservation, and humanity," the business's spokesperson stated.
According to The New Yorker, the dire wolf, which mostly ate horses and bison, went extinct around 12,000 years ago, most likely owing to a lack of food.
According to Time Magazine, Colossal Biosciences also intends to eradicate the woolly mammoth, dodo, and Tasmanian tiger.
