New Zealand: Add O'Rourke, Foulkes, and Choose to Bowl First

New Zealand: Add O'Rourke, Foulkes, and Choose to Bowl First

In an attempt to capitalize on early movement, the captain who won the toss chose to put the opposition in to bat for the fifth time in a row in the tri-series. Rassie van der Dussen, the captain who lost the toss this time, was happy with the result because he would have batted first in any case, in what is a practice match for the final on Saturday.

Both of this week's games are meaningless because Zimbabwe, the hosts, has already been eliminated from the competition with two losses to South Africa and one to New Zealand. However, before the trophy match on Saturday, South Africa will want to see whether they can defeat New Zealand, whom they lost to earlier in the competition.

The decision to drop Lhuan-dre Pretorius to No. 5 after he had previously begun with returns of 0, 27, and 4 was the most significant alteration to the South African starting lineup. Rassie van der Dussen will play the opening role alongside Reeza Hendricks. Along with South Africa's three spinners (George Linde, Senuran Muthusamy, and Nqaba Peter) and resting Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi, Andile Simelane was carded as high as No. 6. Kwena Maphaka and Gerald Coetzee have returned to the starting lineup.

In contrast, New Zealand strengthened its seam department by replacing Bevon Jacobs and Matt Henry with Zakary Foulkes and Will O'Rourke. They haven't modified their batting lineup.

The chasing team has won three of the four games played in the series thus far. The only team to successfully defend a total is New Zealand, which defeated South Africa by 21 runs last Wednesday.
