George Lowe, Voice of Space Ghost, Dies at 67 — 'He Left an Indelible Mark,' Says Adult Swim President
George Lowe, a veteran voice actor known for playing the lead role in Space Ghost Coast to Coast, died on March 2 at the age of 67, according to a spokeswoman for TV Line.

Lowe died after a lengthy illness, according to his old friend "Marvelous" Marvin Boone, who posted on Facebook.

Back in July 2023, Space Ghost Coast to Coast contributing writer MC Chris informed fans concerned about Lowe's conspicuous absence from social media that the actor was suffering from health issues, including an aortic dissection that required intubation twice and was being cared for by a nurse at his Florida home.  "We came close to losing him," Chris explained.

"It's a sad day at Williams Street," says Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who was present for Space Ghost's launch and has known Lowe for decades.  "You all knew him as Space Ghost (and all of his other characters), but we knew him as himself, a true character in his own right who left an unforgettable impression on everyone at Adult Swim.  Wherever you are, George, we hope you are getting enough oxygen.

Lowe, a Radio Engineering Institute of Sarasota alumnus, began his career in the 1980s doing sporadic voiceover work until obtaining the title part in Cartoon Network's Space Ghost Coast to Coast. The animated series, a parody of chat programs with live-action celebrity guests, aired for ten years and more than 100 episodes, including a shift to Adult Swim and a brief rebirth on Turner Broadcasting's GameTap online video game service.

His voice acting credits include The Brak Show, Robot Chicken, Squidbillies, and American Dad.
