Major Updates Coming to Tesla Model S and X in 2025: What to Expect

Following much conjecture, Tesla has hinted that the revised versions of its premium electric vehicles, the Model S and Model X, could be available in 2025.

Lars Moravy, Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, was asked on the Ride the Lightning podcast when the Model S and Model X updates will be available. He said, "Just give it a minute; we'll get there." Moravy, in typical Tesla fashion, kept the enthusiasm going by teasing customers and the EV market while not announcing any launch dates for the two flagship models.

Tesla Model S and Model X Updates:

Tesla has kept the Model S and Model X improvements under wraps. Given that both electric vehicles had a complete update in 2021, this time's revisions could be more focused on software improvements.

Tesla is likely to introduce several surprises with the two EVs, such as a 48-volt electrical design that cuts weight and improves efficiency with fewer wires. The Elon Musk-led business may develop an 800-volt battery architecture, allowing Model S and Model X vehicles to accept faster charging choices.

The Cybertruck employs an Ethernet-based communication system, which replaces the standard cable configuration to allow quicker data transfer speeds. It also incorporated steer-by-wire technology, which replaces the usual mechanical link between the steering wheel and the steering rack actuator. The steering column uses sensors to transfer signals to the steering rack, allowing for more precise steering and vehicle control. Additionally, the Cybertruck has rear-wheel steering with a turn angle of up to 10 degrees, which improves maneuverability.

Upcoming Tesla Roadster

Moravy briefly mentioned the ongoing tests on the upcoming second-generation Roadster. He said that it exceeded that company's expectations, though these were the initial stages. He said, "What we had come up with exceeded what we originally planned," he said. He went on to say that Musk encouraged the team to set a new standard by going above and beyond.
