Tesla Model Y vs. Xiaomi SU7: Stark Damage Contrast in Crash

Shocking photographs of the aftermath of an accident involving a Tesla Model Y and a Xiaomi SU7 have circulated on social media. The collision occurred in a road tunnel in China, with the SU7 colliding with the back of the Model Y and causing varying degrees of damage to both vehicles. What happened to the automobile drivers has not been publicly reported.
Some photos of a crash between a Tesla Model Y and a Xiaomi SU7 have begun to circulate on social media, particularly among Tesla supporters who have been quick to point out how minor damage the Model Y appears to have sustained in comparison to the damaged SU7. The collision occurred in a Chinese road tunnel, with three of the four images (see below) taken at the crash site and one taken later in broad daylight of the Xiaomi SU7.
The SU7 looks to have been driven into the back of the Model Y, although it is unclear why or what happened to the vehicle's passengers. The Tesla Model Y has some damage to the rear and rear bumper, whilst the Xiaomi SU7's front end is totaled. However, despite several comments from Tesla enthusiasts stating that this demonstrates how safe the Model Y is and how poorly the Xiaomi electric vehicle is made, this is not a realistic representation.
The Xiaomi SU7 has an armored cage to protect its users, and the front, like many cars, is a crumple zone designed to collapse in the event of a collision. This lengthens the time it takes the vehicle to come to a stop and hence minimizes the force required, thereby protecting the driver and any passengers. The Tesla Model Y has received outstanding ratings for overall safety from several groups. Thus, the amount of damage to the rear depicted in the photographs is to be expected. Hopefully, the safety measures of both electric vehicles were sufficient to limit injuries in this scenario.
