Sivasri came from a musically wealthy family; her grandpa was Carnatic vocalist Seerkazhi Jayaraman, and her father was mridangam vidwan Skandaprasad.
Sivasri is well-known among aficionados of religious and classical music. Still, she debuted in film music with 'Vanathi's Message,' a song from AR Rahman's Ponniyin Selvan original score.
Sivasri earned a Bachelor's in Bioengineering from Sastra University, an MA in Bharatanatyam from Chennai University, and an MA in Sanskrit from Chennai Sanskrit College.
