Himanta Sarma Unveils 'Bodoland Speaks' Initiative to Foster Regional Peace
Himanta Biswa Sarma presented the Bodoland Lifetime Achievers Award to 18 individuals who have contributed significantly to the enrichment of traditional traditions in the Bodoland Territorial Region.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched 'Bodoland Speaks: From Vision to Action', a Bodoland Territorial Council initiative under the Bodoland Happiness Mission, aimed at fostering peace in the region.  At the event, he declared that all government notices would be translated into Bodo in all 13 districts where members of the community live.

Mr. Sarma also awarded the Bodoland Lifetime Achievers Award to 18 individuals who have made significant contributions to enriching traditional traditions in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).  "BTR has around 26 ethnic groupings.  Following a lengthy period of instability, Bodoland is now experiencing unparalleled tranquility under the leadership of BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro.  Our goal should be to make this peace a basis for growth and opportunity.  The Bodoland Happiness Mission is a noteworthy step in that direction," he added.

He stated that the 'Bodoland Happiness Mission' is a wonderful attempt to maintain the peace and stability that the people of BTR have accomplished over the last five years.  Mr Sarma stated that people lived in fear before the signing of the tripartite peace pact between the Assam government, the Centre, and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland.  As a result, individuals engaged in agitation to protect themselves.  However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed the dynamics in 2014, ushering in an age of peace and serenity," he remarked.

The Chief Minister also launched BTR Communication Bridge, a practical resource of 1001 words and 1001 sentences in 18 regional languages, Transforming Bodoland, a journey of change in BTR, Lookin' Within: My Reflections by CEM BTC Pramod Boro, and the Bodoland Happiness Mission's Annual Report (2024-25).  The Bodoland Engaged Ethnography Initiative and the Bodoland Migrant Women's Livelihood Support Program were both launched.

Mr Boro remarked on the region's transformation since the pact, which restored peace after years of conflict and turmoil dating back to 1968.  "After the peace deal in 2020, we welcomed a new beginning.  On February 7, 2020, the Prime Minister paid a passionate visit to Bodoland and made an impassioned plea to put an end to the violence.  Since then, we have not looked back.  "Our focus has shifted to peace, development, and inclusive growth," he stated.
