Why Trump Is Considering Deporting Elon Musk

Musk has criticised Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' because it eliminates provisions to boost electric vehicles. He has also promised to back election challenges against members who support the plan and has spoken out against its harmful impact on America's national debt.
After billionaire Elon Musk slammed US President Donald Trump's main spending plan, the latter suggested deporting Musk. "I do not know. When asked if he would consider deporting Musk, Trump responded, "We'll have to look into it."
Musk is a naturalised US citizen who is originally from South Africa. Trump stated that the administration may turn the Tesla CEO's department, 'DOGE' or Department of Government Efficiency, against him.
"We might have to put DOGE on Elon," he told me. "Do you know what DOGE is?" DOGE is the monster that may have to return and eat Elon."
Musk reacted to the news by responding on X to a post including a video of the president threatening deportation. He said, "It's tempting to escalate this. So, so enticing. But I'll hold off for now."
The SpaceX CEO led DOGE as a special government employee to reduce federal government costs.

"He is losing his EV mandate. He's sad about it, but I can tell you right now that he may lose much more. "Elon can lose much more than that," Trump remarked. He also said on Truth Social that "without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa."
It is worth recalling that Musk was Trump's largest donor in the 2024 election and was almost always present at the newly elected president's side. Musk has revived efforts to launch a new political party called the "America Party" if the measure passes.
